Calgary, Alberta, Canada
(403) 233-9300 (Extension 332)

Maja obtained a juris doctorate degree at the University of Saskatchewan; was called to the Bar in Saskatchewan in June 2012, and to the Bar in Alberta in October 2017. As an associate, she gained an extensive litigation experience in criminal, immigration, personal injury, and family law. Prior to coming back home to Calgary, Maja worked as a legal counsel for the Government of Saskatchewan.

Before she practiced law, Maja was studying medicine in Sarajevo, Bosnia, when war struck that country. She transferred to Belgrade to become a physician; however, her medical training was non-transferable in Canada. Maja pursued a career as a researcher in medical school in Calgary, and her success has been exemplified by several publications. She made important contributions to medical science as an author in a book titled Methods & Protocols in Molecular Medicine (2006); and most notably, she was an author on a paper published in the prestigious scientific journal Nature (2003).

As a legal counsel, Maja has regularly appeared in Saskatchewan provincial court and the Court of Queen’s Bench. She maintained a heavy workload practice with Legal Aid Saskatchewan, in a mixed litigation and negotiation-based practice. At present, Maja seeks to achieve a positive legal resolution through mediation.

As a scientist, Maja brings a practical and problem-solving approach to legal problems. She is also a worldwide traveler who has sensitivity to the different views of others, and the different needs of her clients. Maja’s own life struggles, combined with her medical and law experience, have made her both unique and skilled in her ability to help others. She has been a proud member of the Rotary Club since 2015.
